What you may not expect are the small class sizes. We provide an average of one faculty member for every 21 students–so your classes at APSU could be smaller than the ones you’re in now!

Why do small classes matter?

Think about it this way: If a radio station offered you free concert tickets, would you pick lawn seats or the front row?
At APSU, our small classes basically give you a seat on the front row. Most are taught by doctorally trained faculty who will get to know you during the semester. You won’t be a nameless face in a sea of students. In fact, it’s not uncommon for our students to form lifelong mentoring relationships and friendships with their professors.

APSU’s four academic colleges–Arts and Letters, Science and Mathematics, Professional Programs and Social Sciences, and Graduate Studies–offer 50 undergraduate majors to choose from (see left).

Austin Peay also offers special opportunities through the African American Studies Program, Honors Program, President’s Emerging Leaders Program, Women’s Studies Program and minors in international studies and leadership.

In addition, you’ll find Austin Peay students taking study-abroad classes in Canada, China, France, Gambia, Germany, Greece, Japan, Nigeria, Spain, Sweden and Taiwan. Scholarships are available!

Also, Austin Peay has the state's largest offering of online degrees. Choose from 13 complete degree programs that you can earn from home! And many classes offer online components so that you can review class materials from your residence hall or home after hours.
